Congress Matters
Personal values such as honesty; willingness to work hard; devotion to family; love of country; respect for our military and those who serve as police, firemen and nurses.  More and more, people who have these values are labelled bigots, out-of-touch, in-the-way of progress.  More and more, people who hold these values are under attack … people like Melissa Klein, the Oregon baker who was fined $137,000 because she refused to bake a cake for a same-sex wedding ceremony which she though violated her religious beliefs.

Disrespect for Our Values

Why is it 72% of Oregonians in the 5th congressional district feel their personal values are not respected by the media and the popular culture?  That’s nearly 3 of 4 people who feel this way.

Apparently Kurt Schrader thinks Melissa Klein should have been fined.  He voted against the Conscience Protection Act of 2016, which simply prohibits the federal government from forcing people to violate their religious beliefs.

And if you’re one of those who think men and boys shouldn’t be entitled to use girls’ restrooms and locker rooms, you’re also on the wrong side of history.  Kurt Schrader voted to put into law the Obama policy of pulling funding from school districts that don’t allow males to use female facilities, if they identify as women.

We’re not asking that anyone be forced to agree with us; we’re just asking that there be a place in America for people who hold traditional values, the values which made this country as great as it is.
